Abstract. This article aims to reconsider the serial verb constructions in Chinese on the basis of the verbal predication structure. It is divided into three principal parts. The first part defines the scope of our study including three types of constructions; in the second part, we introduce the notion of secondary predicate in the end of regrouping a part of "pivotal constructions" and the "descriptive clause" which is compared to the French predicative relative. Four types of secondary predicate that exist in Chinese are described afterwards and its bigger variety compared to French is underlined. The last part provides a formal test in order to distinguish the object clause from the secondary predicate and discusses the ambiguity that may present some constructions.
Résumé. Cet article vise à réexaminer la "construction verbale en série" en chinois à partir des structures prédicatives des verbes concernés. Il est divisé en trois sections principales. La première section délimite le champ d'étude sur trois types de constructions; dans la seconde, la notion de la prédication seconde est introduite afin de regrouper une partie des constructions "à pivot" et la "clause descriptive" qui est à rapprocher de la relative prédicative du français. La suite de cette section décrit les quatre types de prédication seconde existant en chinois, en soulignant sa plus grande variété par rapport au français. La dernière section fournit un outil formel pour distinguer la complétive de la prédication seconde et discute de l'ambiguïté que peuvent présenter certaines constructions.
